Have you ever thought about where your food comes from and how it’s growth, production, preparation and transport affect the environment? Online retailer AO.com have created an interesting interactive that gives insight into just that.

As well as this, they have commissioned a survey to find out what the people of the UK think about the food they buy. As it turns out 70% of people actually said that buying locally sourced produce was important to them as it is better for the economy and important for the environment.

The survey also looked into what people are doing to reduce their plastic waste, revealing that Londoners are actually the worst at reusing plastic bags, with only 43% of London dweller doing that, compared to a whopping 77% of people in Northern Ireland!

When it comes to looking after the environment and making more conscious decisions when it comes to the foods we buy, there are so many things we can do! According to the survey, the top three things people in the UK think we could be doing to be eco-friendlier are:

• Buy less plastic packaging
• Grow their own produce
• Buy from local producers

Take a look at the infographic below to find out more about the UKs thoughts, feelings and efforts to make more conscious choices in order to be kinder to the environment.
